Every Hero has a Story

2015 is the “Year of the Hero” at the Waupaca Library. This year we are celebrating the idea that each of us has the potential to be a hero, we all have heroes in our lives, and every hero has a story.

The Library is inviting patrons and visitors to write down their hero stories and post them on the Hero Wall. Participation is open to all ages and stories will be available for everyone to read at the Library.

Forms for Hero Stories may be picked up at the Library or click here to download form.

Books and libraries go hand-in-hand. But this April, the Waupaca Area Public Library will feature a different kind of book--the altered book. "Altered Books," an art exhibit, will run April 13-May 23 and feature books that have been changed from their original form into a different form. Some remain in the shape of books but others become artwork, lamps, chairs and many other things.

This exhibit will also provide a backdrop for the 2015 Waupaca BookFest, which will be held on Saturday, April 18.

Upcoming Programs:

The library will host an opening-night reception on Monday, April 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the exhibit room. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to view the artwork and meet the artists!

Want to try making your own altered book? Join us at a MAKERSPACE on Saturday, May 2 when we join the Book-To-Art meeting at 10:00 a.m. and make an altered book!

Celebrate your public library with Culver's during April by having your kids (ages 4-11) draw a picture of their  favorite book, bring it to the library and get a certificate for a FREE single scoop of Culver's Frozen Custard. And .. enter your name for a chance to win a FREE Scoopie Kids' Meal.

It can be a character, event, scene or anything you liked about the book.  Return your drawing to the library when completed by April 30, 2015. (While supplies last)

The Possibilities are Unlimited!
