Teen Librarian Position
Waupaca Area Public Library seeks a dynamic, creative individual who will be in charge of one the coolest Teen Programs and the premiere teen room in the state! The Teen Room (aka the Best Cellar) is a model institution cited in YALSA’s Teen Space Guidelines. This full time position offers a fun atmosphere with team support. Included in responsibilities are supervision of teen staff; planning and facilitation of programs; sharing knowledge of teen literature; managing the teen collection; marketing teen programs through social media, performing outreach services, sponsoring the Student Library Advisory Group (SLAG) and advocating for teens in the community. As a member of the Children’s Services Team this individual will also provide support for children’s programs and services. Requirements of the position are an MLS or five years of library experience in youth services. Experience working with teens a must! Salary range $31,000-$35,000 with full benefit package. We are currently accepting applications for the following positions:
Young Adult Assistant I: Oversees and promotes activity in the Young Adult Room while assisting with YA program planning.
Circulation Substitute/ Library Assistant I: Responsible for the orderly operation of the circulation desk, operating the automated circulation system and general clerical functions in the library.
We are particularly looking for people who are interested in working evening and weekend hours, but daytime hours are likely as well. Circulation substitute means being available to cover vacations, sick time, etc. Duties include checking materials in and out at the circulation desk, shelving, keeping order, enforcing the policies of the library, assisting library patrons, answering the phone, etc. This job will require repetitive movement, bending and lifting items that could be 50 lbs. or more. It is important that you are familiar and comfortable with computers, books and other materials. The starting pay is minimum wage ($7.25/hour).
