Winchester Academy Programs

The Winchester Academy of Waupaca presents a series of lectures throughout the year. Unless otherwise noted, programs are held in the downstairs meeting rooms of the Waupaca Area Public Library. Each presentation lasts approximately one hour and is followed by discussion and refreshments. There is no admission charge. Should a late cancellation be necessary, it will be announced on WDUX (fm 92.7). WINCHESTER ACADEMY SUPPORT, DONATIONS & SPONSORSHIPS

Winchester Academy offers its programs to the public free of charge. It depends on the community in the form of individual and corporate gifts. Contributions are tax deductible under section 501©(3) of the federal tax code. Donors of $300 or more earn ‘sponsorship’ status. The Academy makes every effort to select speakers or topics as requested by the sponsors.

Knowledge Seekers

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TOPIC (or haunting unanswered question) WHICH AN EXPERT CAN ADDRESS? The Board of Trustees invites you to let us be your “knowledge seeker” and try to find that student/scholar who can satisfy your curiosity. The Mission of Winchester Academy includes the goal of serving the public’s wish for continued intellectual growth. In other words, do YOU have a question for which we can probably find a person with the answer.

WAUPACA HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Holly History and Genealogy Center

Waupaca annually attracts many historians, professional or amateur, who are seeking information about personal heritage, Native American history, Civil War events. The area’s rich and colorful history often can be found in documents at the Holly Center, 321 South Main Street. Local experts or the Center’s Executive Director, Julie Hintz, provides assistance as requested. HOURS: Wednesday and Friday, Noon - 3:00 P.M. Winchester Academy Mission

OUR MISSION: The Winchester Academy, located in Waupaca, WI, is a center for life-long learning. It was inspired by the tradition of the Scandinavian Folk Academy. Our purposes are three-fold: 1) to enrich the life of the community by providing intellectually stimulating and informative programs; 2) to serve the public's wish for continued intellectual growth; and 3) to provide a lay audience for Wisconsin's scholars and others with developed expertise to share their knowledge and enthusiasms outside the traditional structure of school and college.
